Sights You'll See During the Race
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Erected in memory of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a majestic structure that immediately impresses and inspires. Built to reflect Sheikh Zayed’s vision of spreading tolerance, love and peace, and pay tribute to his many noble deeds and contributions to humanity, it’s a breathtakingly beautiful example of Islamic architecture. Featuring 82 stunning gold and white marble domes, the unique design combines Mamluk, Ottoman and Fatimid styles with intricate mosaics and glass-work. Open to worshippers and visitors since 2007 and visible from all three bridges that connect the main island of Abu Dhabi, it continues to be the UAE capital’s most monumental landmark.
Wahat Al Karama
One of the most important monuments in the UAE, Wahat Al Karama honours the national heroes who sacrificed their lives in service of their country. Spanning 46,000 square metres and located directly opposite the world-famous Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the striking and moving memorial was designed by British artist Idris Khan. Inaugurated in 2016, it’s both a timeless tribute to the UAE’s brave martyrs, and a peaceful and tranquil place for self-reflection.
Erth Abu Dhabi
Inspired by the treasured heritage of the UAE, Erth is proud to be Abu Dhabi’s true beacon of Emirati hospitality. Providing exceptional services and facilities, every detail of the interior and design pays homage to the history of the UAE and its ancient traditions. Dramatically shaped in the outline of a falcon, the national emblem of the UAE, the distinguished yet welcoming destination offers a full exploration through the past, present and future of the UAE. Located just a 15-minute drive from downtown Abu Dhabi and adjacent to the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the beautiful Wahat Al Karama memorial, its expansive array of dining and leisure facilities includes six restaurants, a private beach, swimming pool and a vast recreational hub.
