A 10k race is roughly 6.2 miles.
On average, a 10k run will burn around 600 calories (roughly 100 calories per mile). However, the exact number depends on your current body weight and the intensity of your run. Generally, the faster you run, the more calories you burn.
A 5k race equals 3.1 miles – a nice distance for beginner and experienced runners alike!
A good running 5k race pace is normally considered to be anything under 25 minutes. However, please don’t think that you need to complete the Zayed Sports Marathon in this amount of time! The race starts at 7.15am and you have until 8.30am to finish.
As with a 10k, the amount of calories you burn in a 5k race depends on how much you weigh and how fast you run, but for most people it is generally between 300 and 400 calories.
To calculate your jogging speed, simply divide your run time by the distance you covered.
For instance, if you run a 5k in 30 minutes, then you cover one kilometre in six minutes.
A full marathon race is 26.2 miles or just over 42 kilometres. However, the Zayed Charity Marathon offers 3k, 5k and 10k races.
