Renowned as “the kindest run in the world”, the Zayed Charity Run carries a legacy of compassion, unity, and humanity. The story began in 2001, when it was established by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to honour the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE. The inaugural event witnessed thousands come together to celebrate his vision of generosity and giving.
In 2005, the run made its international debut in New York City, with proceeds donated to the Specialized Hospital for Kidney Research through the National Kidney Foundation, in partnership with the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C. By 2014, the event expanded to Egypt, where it continues to be held annually in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Today, the Zayed Charity Run has grown into a truly global movement. The 2025–2026 season will see new editions in Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, and Budapest, alongside returning events in Abu Dhabi, Cairo, and Miami. Each run not only raises vital funds for medical research and humanitarian causes but also reaffirms the Run’s enduring mission: to unite people from every corner of the world in the spirit of kindness, giving, and shared humanity.
